Dr. Rachel Benjamin — Pelvic Health & Neurologic Physical Therapist
Dr. Rachel Benjamin is a pelvic health and neurologic physical therapist dedicated to helping patients regain confidence, function, and quality of life through compassionate, evidence-based care.
Rachel earned her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree magna cum laude from Simmons University. She began her career at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, where she worked on the Spinal Cord Injury Unit. Over more than eight years there, she became a leader at the intersection of neurologic rehabilitation and pelvic health, developing and launching Spaulding's first inpatient Women's Health Physical Therapy program, with a specialized focus on neurogenic bowel and bladder management.
Alongside her work at Spaulding, Rachel treated men and women with a wide range of pelvic floor conditions at Wellest Integrative Health, a private pelvic health practice in Boston, and served as an adjunct professor and lab instructor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, mentoring the next generation of physical therapists.
A Stamford native, Rachel returned home to bring her expertise back to the community that raised her. She established the Obstetric Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Program at Stamford Hospital, where she treats patients during pregnancy and postpartum, leads a weekly educational program on the maternity unit for patients and their partners, and advocates for expanded access to pelvic floor physical therapy within the hospital setting.
Outside the clinic, Rachel is an avid traveler who has visited all seven continents, a dedicated gardener, and happiest outdoors in the sun.
